Walking distance from our house, we love to stroll over to the Star of India and systematically try everything on their menu. Stopping in for the lunch buffet today included:
- Papadam – crispy flatbread
- Naan – piping hot fresh from the clay oven
- Tandoori chicken – chicken marinated in yogurt and mild spices, cooked in its own juices over hot charcoal, roasted in Tandoor
- Malai Kofta – Vegetable and cheese dumplings cooked in a special sauce
- Mixed salad
The owner Preet Pal consistently greets us with a warm welcome, a grin from ear to ear, and a hearty handshake. He always makes sure that we feel completely taken care of.
On Friday night we absolutely stuffed ourselves silly:
- Tandoori Dinner – this is a feast! Chicken tikka, lamb tikka, tandoori chicken, seek kabob, vegetable curry, rice, naan, dessert, chai tea… come hungry!
- Lamb Saag – for good measure, we wanted another lamb dish, cooked with spinach and a mildly spicy gravy
- Himalayan Blue – this is a tall bottle of adult beverage, so we had to share it… even though we were walking home!
